Abstract: | This course conclusion work is the result of an ethnography of pig raising in an industrial regime between integrated farmers and farm workers of a swine company in the Médio Alto Uruguai subregion, in northwest Rio Grande do Sul. The objective of the research is to understand how industrial pig transforms agricultural socialities based on a new technical regime for pig raising introduced in farms. I propose a discussion based on the controversy of pig farmers with the industry's discourse on the distinction between pigs and swines. Through the description of the relationship between breeders, pigs, new technical objects and the tasks introduced by the industrial regime, I survey the ways of raising pigs and the ethnographies of breeding to analyze the ontological difference between pigs and swines postulated by my interlocutors. |
