As relações de poder nas organizações: um estudo observacional com base no filme The Founder

Abstract

The present study focuses on identifying the relationship of power in organizations through observational study in the movie The Founder, is presented as the main objective to identify what are the characteristics of the use of power, its types expressed, and its consequences in the movie The Founder. Three specific objectives were established: a) identify the manifestations of power present in the movie, b) classify the types of power expressed in the movie, according to the theoretical review, c) relate the manifestations of power and the types expressed, analyzing their consequences for the organization presented in the movie The Founder. The composition of the survey of the theoretical framework was obtained in order to provide a theoretical background necessary for the development of the study. For that, a qualitative, observational, descriptive research was carried out, and the results were analyzed by means of film analysis. The film chosen for this filmic analysis is a true story, which tells the story of McDonald's, from its beginnings as a small diner in San Bernardino (California) to becoming a powerful cultural symbol and one of the largest fastfood restaurants in the world. The analysis was based on the aspects identified during the survey of scene choices that identify the use of power. For, based on the experiences of Ray Kroc and the brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald, the main elements that ensure the understand of the use of power in organizations have been analyzed. This research was conducted in order to identify how power is present in the managerial processes of Administration, and how important it is for a leader or manager to have the necessary knowledge to manage a work team. It is possible to understand through this work that film analysis can portray the practice of a given theory and even teach about behavioral, social, and emotional skills. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the expansion of the use of observational study in the teachinglearning process and research in the field of Management, as well as be replicated in future qualitative research regarding understanding of the use of power in organizations.
