Abstract: | This Dissertation, based on the assumptions of the functionalist perspective (HEINE et al., 1991; HEINE, 2013; HOPPER, 1987, 1991; HOPPER; TRAUGOTT, 2003; TRAUGOTT; HEINE, 1991; GIVÓN, 1995, 2001, 2018; TRAUGOTT, 1995; BYBEE, 2003, 2016, 2020), investigates the multifunctionality of the discursive markers “bem” and “bom” from a synchronic sample of speech data composed of 15 interviews with children, young people and adults, monolingual in Portuguese, from Chapecó, Santa Catarina. In order to fulfill the proposed objective, the analyzed data were taken from the corpus of the VMPOSC Project (Mudança e Variação no Português do Oeste de Santa Catarina), which is part of the Research Group Estudos Sociolinguísticos e In-terfaces, of the Graduate Program in Studies Linguistics (PPGEL) of the Federal Uni-versity of Fronteira Sul (UFFS). Aiming at a better understanding of how the items work, we carried out a bibliographical survey of “bem” and “bom” according to norma-tive grammars, descriptive grammars and according to the main dictionaries. We revisit the descriptive studies of “bem” and/or “bom” in Brazilian Portuguese (RISSO, 1999, 2006; MARTINS, 2003, BARBOSA, 2019 e GÖRSKI, 2020), European Portuguese (OLIVEIRA; SILVA, 2020) and nine studies and nine studies romanics languages and germanic languages. In Methodology, we carried out a quali-quantitative approach with a view to analyzing contexts of use, identifying linguistic and extralinguistic factors (sty-listic and social) that act in the use of items and in the possible functional trajectory of “bem” and “bom” under the perspective of grammaticalization. The main results of this research indicate that the DMs “bem” and “bom” share the same functional domain of calling the interlocutor's attention to the information (MARTINS, 2003; GÖRSKI, 2020). Of the 8 interviews we found that data from the “bem” correspond to a smaller part of the total quantity, while data from the “bom” was responsible for most occurrences of DMs. |
