| Resume: | O presente trabalho busca analisar as representações sobre o Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra publicadas em notícias e colunas no Jornal Sul Brasil nos anos de 2002 e 2003. Com sede no município de Chapecó, mas com circulação em praticamente toda a mesorregião oeste de Santa Catarina, o jornal abordou temas relativos ao movimento de forma recorrente. Entre os anos de 2002 e 2003, houve 81 publicações que citaram o MST, das quais 50 remeteram as ações do Movimento à ilegalidade, para isso, empregando termos como “invasão, baderna, crime”. Utilizando o conceito de “representação” de Roger Chartier, buscamos analisar a contribuição do periódico para a formação dessa representação negativa sobre o movimento social, percebida atualmente na região oeste de Santa Catarina e também a nível nacional. |
| Abstract: | The present work seeks to analyze the representations of the Landless Workers Movement (MST) published in news and columns in the newspaper Sul Brasil in the years 2002 and 2003. Headquartered in the municipality of Chapecó, but with circulation in practically the entire western mesoregion of Santa Catarina, the newspaper addressed themes related to the movement recurrently. Between 2002 and 2003, there were 81 publications that cited the MST, of which 50 referred the Movement's actions to illegality, using terms such as “invasion, riot, crime”. Using the concept of “representation” by Roger Chartier, we seek to analyze the journal's contribution to the formation of this negative representation about the social movement, currently perceived in the western region of Santa Catarina and also at the national level. |
