Abstract: | White oat (Avena sativa) is an important crop to be planted in winter, due to its wide use for both human and animal consumption. Therefore, we must expand our production techniques so as to minimize the limitations of its cultivation. One of the most limiting factors in white oat productivity is lodging. For that reason, there are available growth regulators that are meant to reduce this problem. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the effect of doses of the growth regulator trinexapac-ethyl on lodging, good yield components and germination of white oat. A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of four doses of trinexapac-ethyl (0, 400, 450 e 500 ml ha-1) on lodging percentage, plant height, cane diameter and yield components. A second experiment was carried out in a laboratory, where seeds from the field study were evaluated for their germination potential by measuring germination. The use of increasing doses of trinexapac-ethyl reduced white oat plants' height in a quadratic manner, and having an increasing linear trend for the production components, similarly, increasing doses of trinexapac-ethyl cancelled the lodging of white oat plants. Likewise, the increase of trinexapac-ethyl doses canceled out the lodging og white oat plants. Regarding the germination of white oat seeds, the dose that showed the best efficiency was 249,5 ml ha-1, managing to overcome 90% of germination. |
