Níveis de leitura e interpretação de mapas temáticos dos alunos do ensino médio do colégio Libano Alves de Oliveira em Gaurama/RS

Abstract

The role played by Geography with Cartography in the life of the individual is essential, enabling the reading of the world and a space of experience, the cartographic language helps in the expansion of knowledge starting from the interpretation, since the role of school Geography is to create tools to create critical citizens , reflective, capable of understanding and transforming the world, in the course of school life it is expected that students institute cartographic literacy to learn to read and interpret maps, sketches, graphic semiology, among others. A relevant point for this literacy is the development of some notions such as oblique vision, three-dimensional and two-dimensional image, cartographic alphabet, legend, scale and orientation. However, in our research we verified the level of reading and interpretation of maps in the High School of Colégio Libano Alves de Oliveira, in the Municipality of Gaurama, based on the author Maria Elena Simielli, we noticed the difficulty that the student has to interpret a map to in addition to the location exercise. For the development of this research, an evaluative instrument was organized with ENEM questions and university entrance exams from UFRGS and UFSC and we applied it to all high school classes at the aforementioned school. In view of the analysis of the collected data, we identified the level of reading and interpretation of maps that the students are at.
