Avaliação do perfil oxidativo de pacientes em hemodiálise que realizaram exercício físico de resistência: projeto de pesquisa - trabalho de curso

Abstract

There is evidence in the literature that patients urdergoing renal replacement therapy (a chronic health condition) experience compromised muscle strength, sarcopenia, and inflammation, especially after starting hemodialysis (HD) treatment. There are several positive reports regarding aerobic exercise for these patients. However, there are few references in the literature specifically regarding the effects of resistance exercise (RE). Objective: To evaluate the effect of RE in patients undergoing HD treatment. Methodology: This will be a quantitative approach and will consist of an interventional study, descriptive and comparative in nature, using a before-and-after design, with patients from the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS) undergoing HD treatment at the reference renal clinic in the western region of Santa Catarina. Participants who died and those who already engage in exercises outside the scope of the study or discontinued the follow-up will be excluded. Data collection will be done through medical records, individual interviews, and blood samples to evaluate laboratory data before and after the application of the protocols. It is expected that this project will identify the effectiveness of interventions in the population undergoing HD treatment.
