A formação do latifúndio e a constituição do agronegócio: impactos na Comunidade Rural Saltinho, Cândido de Abreu, Paraná

Abstract

This work aims to understand the local effects arising from the formation of large estates, the result of Brazilian land concentration. In general, the research sought to point out the possible reasons that are leading to the growth of areas occupied by large estates in the Rural Community of Saltinho, located in the municipality of Cândido de Abreu, state of Paraná. The specific objectives of the research are: to understand the Brazilian land structure and the process of land concentration; analyze the concepts of latifundio, agribusiness and peasant agriculture; analyze the productive and commercial dynamics of the peasants in the community; identify the causes and consequences of the increase in large estates in the Rural Community of Saltinho; to evaluate the relationship between the sale of land by small farmers and the difficulties of trends towards the model imposed by agribusiness in the Community. From this perspective, this work was carried out through bibliographical research for theoretical reference, as well as with the use of quantitative data obtained from official banks, such as the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE). Still with regard to methodology, field work was carried out to better understand the reality studied. With this, the advance of the latifundium and agribusiness in the Community was identified, that is, the latifundium is expanding over the areas belonging to peasant agriculture. In addition, the advance of agribusiness is shown in the Community expressed by the replacement of food production, such as beans, corn and rice, by commercial crops, mainly commodities, such as soybeans and beef cattle.
