Espaço urbano e mobilidade cotidiana: percepções dos trabalhadores no percurso casa-trabalho em Pinhalzinho/SC

Abstract

The research focused on analyzing aspects of the urban and human dimensions, delving into workers' perceptions of interactions between the individual and space. Explored topics included environmental characteristics, urban mobility, and the demands arising from their daily lives, particularly in the home-to-work commute. Industries in the eastern industrial sector of Pinhalzinho/SC were selected based on criteria considering integration into the urban fabric, proximity to Highway BR 282, and the number of employees. The study addressed the reproduction of urban spaces in a context of social, ecological, economic, and spatial imbalance, emphasizing the influence of interactions in the work context, individual perception of this information, and the perspective shaped by the mode of transportation used in the home-to-work commute. The methodology employed encompassed literature review, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and the administration of questionnaires addressing both objective and subjective aspects of urban mobility. Tools were applied to evaluate urban space and its physical aspects. Throughout three chapters, the research explores the economic and industrial significance of Pinhalzinho/SC, examining the interrelations between municipal characteristics, individuals, and modes of transportation, highlighting the diversity of perceptions among individuals actively engaged in space and their mutual influence. Finally, it is observed that challenges related to urban mobility in the home-to-work commute have a less significant impact on workers' perceptions than issues associated with other areas of their lives, such as leisure moments and experiences in different locations, although challenges arising from deficiencies in infrastructure are not disregarded. Despite perceived limitations, the study underscores the importance of utilizing active modes of transportation for their inclusive and sustainable nature. The study highlights the importance of worker participation in the city production process and recognizes the need for improvements in basic infrastructure for the quality of environments.
