Percurso terapêutico de mulheres que passaram por cirurgia plástica

Abstract

Objective: to reveal the therapeutic path of women who have already undergone a plastic surgery intervention. Method: a qualitative, observational and descriptive study, with a sample composed of 10 cisgender women, residing in Rio Grande do Sul, indicated by people who have had plastic surgery sequentially. Data collection was carried out from November 2021 to February 2022, through semi-structured interviews carried out by videoconference. The description of the sample took place through the analysis of therapeutic itineraries with a focus on the health sector used, professionals involved, body dissatisfaction, self-esteem, mental health and satisfaction with the surgical result. Results: it was observed in its entirety, surgical procedures performed in regulated hospitals and with accredited professionals, predominance of a medical-centered logic without multiprofessional involvement. It was found the presence of psychic suffering triggered by emotional problems attributed to discomfort with the physical body. Conclusion: there was satisfaction with the results of the procedures, improvement in quality of life, self-esteem, mental health and social interaction, however, in the majority, there was no full body satisfaction even after the aesthetic procedure.
