O papel das smart cities no desenvolvimento sustentável

Abstract

Smart Cities and Sustainable Development are related to human capital, social capital, technology and innovation, in the quest to improve people's quality of life, without compromising future generations, through participatory governance and the protection of natural resources. The general objective of this dissertation is to analyze the conceptual models of Smart Cities treated in the literature and their relationship with sustainable development. For this, the methodology of the Systematized Literature Review (RSzL) was adopted, performing a search in the indexed bases in the CAPES Periodicals Portal, with the terms “Smart Cities” and “Sustainable Development”, which met the established parameters. With the initial search, 265 articles were downloaded, and after going through the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 25 articles remained in the final review. The research showed that there is a convergence between authors on the subject addressed, focusing on ICTs and its applications in the urban context and in the elaboration of solutions, contributing to the sustainable development of cities, in the sense of guaranteeing the efficient use of natural resources and improving people's quality of life, whose purpose is to encourage and implement effective public policies for sustainability. The contribution of this dissertation lies in the relationship established between Smart Cities and Sustainable Development, in order to develop agendas that provide results oriented towards the sustainability of cities. It is hoped that this dissertation can serve as an instrument for debates in the academic environment, as an indication of reflection and as a research reference for municipal public managers who intend to build more sustainable and intelligent environments in their municipalities and cities.
