dc.description.abstractFrom reading Plato's Republic and Laws, it is observed that music can contribute to the education of new citizens and their functions in the city. Musical pleasure is, roughly speaking, one of the ways to educate sensitivity. This work explores the interconnection between education and harmony through music, aiming to reproduce beauty and balance in the formation of citizens. The objectives of this study are outlined in response to the relevance attributed to music as a pedagogical proposal capable of promoting harmony of the soul. The aim is, firstly, to analyze the characteristics of the musical form, identifying elements that enable the organization of the individual's soul. Next, we seek to understand to what extent this musical structure contributes to the formation of citizens in dialogues. To achieve these objectives, we adopted a bibliographical research method, exploring the works of Plato and other pertinent texts. A significant contribution of this study is the complementary approach to Platonic works, allowing a more comprehensive analysis of the theme of harmony in the soul. By connecting insights from the Republic (Book II) and Laws (Book III), we can enrich our understanding of how music influences the formation of citizens and the organization of the city.pt_BR
dc.description.resumoA partir da leitura da República e das Leis de Platão, observa-se que a música pode contribuir para a educação dos novos cidadãos e suas funções na cidade. O prazer musical é, a grosso modo, uma das maneiras para educar a sensibilidade. Este trabalho explora a interconexão entre educação e harmonia através da música, visando reproduzir a beleza e o equilíbrio na formação do cidadão. Os objetivos deste estudo são delineados em resposta à relevância atribuída à música como uma proposta pedagógica capaz de promover a harmonia da alma. Pretende-se, primeiramente, analisar as características da forma musical, identificando elementos que possibilitam a organização da alma do indivíduo. Em seguida, busca-se compreender em que medida essa estrutura musical contribui para a formação do cidadão nos diálogos. Para alcançar tais objetivos, adotamos um método de pesquisa bibliográfica, explorando as obras de Platão e outros textos pertinentes. Uma contribuição significativa deste estudo é a abordagem complementar das obras platônicas, permitindo uma análise mais abrangente sobre o tema da harmonia na alma. Ao conectar os insights da República (Livro II) e das Leis (Livro III), podemos enriquecer nossa compreensão sobre como a música influencia a formação do cidadão e a organização da cidade.pt_BR
