Resumen : | A Luffa aegyptiaca Mill. and Matricaria recutita L., are species that are present in Rio Grande do Sul-Brazil, as an alternative for profitable cultivation, through products that can be obtained from them. The objective of this work was to verify the effect of germination of Chamomile and Loofah seeds under different temperature conditions and the presence or absence of light. It was carried out in the laboratories of the Federal University of Fronteira Sul, Cerro Largo-RS campus. The work was conducted under a Completely Randomized Design, using four replications of twenty-five seeds of each species, with tests at temperatures of 8ºC, 16ºC, 24ºC, 32ºC and 40ºC, in BODs germinators and with a photoblastism experiment. The number of seeds that emitted the germination bud was counted daily and, when there was stabilization, the germination percentage and the Germination Speed Index were calculated. The IVG results were subjected to ANOVA and regression analysis. It was verified under the conditions in which the experiment was carried out, that loofah seeds were caused by germination when subjected to low temperatures of those that are exceptional for the species (around 32°C), and for chamomile seeds it was demonstrated that low temperatures (8°C) were considered optimal for the germination process, which can occur with or without light, with low GVI. At high temperatures, they did not germinate. |
