Mulheres negras e migrantes na Universidade Federal da Fronteira Sul - Campus Chapecó: estudo de caso

Abstract

By addressing histories of black female migration, this research investigates the connections between the university as an institutional place and black migrant students. An institution that at the same time welcomes can exclude, as it is immersed in a society marked by racism. We propose here a perspective that addresses work, gender and migration. Regarding the exclusion associated with discrimination, it implies the academic permanence of black migrant women who study in UFFS Chapecó campus, a permanence that is impacted by the language, culture and other aspects of a country that these migrants choose to live, work and study. The conceptual basis of this research is the intersectionality (Collins; Bilge, 2021), as well as bibliographies that distinguish different aspects that characterize the structural and institutional racisms (Almeida, 2019; Kilomba, 2018). The methodological approach walkthrough reports of two black migrant women, nominated Hibisco Rosa and Capota Vermelha in intersection as women, students, workers and migrants. The initial results indicate the existence of institutional and structural racism, which provokes changes in the study and work lives of these women.
