| Título : | Mudanças socioeconômicas no município de Quedas do Iguaçu na contemporaneidade (2003 – 2019) |

| Resume: | O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar as principais mudanças na situação socioeconômica do município de Quedas do Iguaçu, no período 2003 – 2019, assim como apontar possíveis condicionantes. Para isto, a pesquisa inicia identificando as particularidades do processo de conformação da mesorregião Centro-sul, da qual o município faz parte, visando encontrar na história processos que contribuam para explicar o atual perfil socioeconômico de Quedas do Iguaçu. A seguir são analisadas as características da base econômica do município em tela, destacando pontos de continuidade e ruptura ao longo do período de estudo proposto; na sequência, em diálogo com a análise já realizada, abordam-se as particularidades do perfil social. Finalmente são tecidas as conclusões. A metodologia utilizada nesta pesquisa baseou-se fundamentalmente na revisão bibliográfica e levantamento de dados secundários, este último realizado a partir da seleção de indicadores e variáveis específicas que permitissem atingir os objetivos da investigação. O estudo revelou pontos de ruptura em relação as características da mesorregião, tais como a importância da atividade industrial e a marginalidade da agricultura na dinâmica econômica de Quedas do Iguaçu. Também pontos de continuidade, como a pobreza e a concentração de renda. A importância do setor secundário ancora-se na presença da empresa Araupel desde o início dos anos de 1970, a qual desenvolve atividades no ramo da madeira e do mobiliário. Apesar desta atividade ainda ser significativa, a mesma apresenta um declínio a partir do início da segunda década do presente século, em contraposição ao florescimento da indústria têxtil e do vestuário, a qual vem crescendo, dentre outros fatores, em função da baixa remuneração da força de trabalho. Observa-se também o crescimento da agricultura, a qual ainda é uma atividade marginal em termos da participação no PIB, no entanto apresenta a taxa de crescimento mais alta dentre todas as atividades econômicas. Estas transformações vieram acompanhadas, de um lado, pelo encolhimento da remuneração média, e de outro lado, pela melhora dos indicadores de saúde e educação, resultado fundamentalmente das políticas públicas executadas nos governos do Partido dos Trabalhadores. Apesar da área de saúde apresentar melhor desempenho, as neoplasias malignas lideram a taxa de mortalidade ao longo de todo o período estudado, problemática que há algumas décadas, no século passado, estava fora do espectro de doenças que mais afetavam a saúde da população. Apesar das mudanças apontadas, Quedas do Iguaçu, continua observando precariedade nas condições de vida da sua população, assim como a externalização do eixo dinâmico da sua economia, haja vista que a mesma depende do comportamento do mercado externo, principal destino dos produtos da indústria madeireira, ou do mercado extra regional, como é o caso da indústria têxtil e do vestuário. Conclui-se assim, que a precariedade socioeconômica no município continua se reinventando ao longo da história, com novas facetas para velhos problemas. |
| Resumen : | The present work aims to analyze the main changes in the socioeconomic situation of the municipality of Quedas do Iguaçu, in the period 2003 – 2019, as well as point out possible conditions. To this end, the research begins by identifying the particularities of the process of formation of the Center-South mesoregion, of which the municipality is part, aiming to find processes in history that contribute to explaining the current socioeconomic profile of Quedas do Iguaçu. Next, the characteristics of the economic base of the municipality in question are analyzed, highlighting points of continuity and rupture throughout the proposed study period; Subsequently, in dialogue with the analysis already carried out, the particularities of the social profile are addressed. Finally, conclusions are drawn. The methodology used in this research was fundamentally based on bibliographic review and secondary data collection, the latter carried out through the selection of specific indicators and variables that would allow the research objectives to be achieved. The study revealed breaking points in relation to the characteristics of the mesoregion, such as the importance of industrial activity and the marginality of agriculture in the economic dynamics of Quedas do Iguaçu. Also points of continuity, such as poverty and income concentration. The importance of the secondary sector is anchored in the presence of the company Araupel since the beginning of the 1970s, which develops activities in the wood and furniture sector. Although this activity is still significant, it has declined since the beginning of the second decade of this century, in contrast to the flourishing of the textile and clothing industry, which has been growing, among other factors, due to the low remuneration of the workforce. of work. We also observe the growth of agriculture, which is still a marginal activity in terms of participation in GDP, however it has the highest growth rate among all economic activities. These transformations were accompanied, on the one hand, by a decline in average remuneration, and on the other hand, by an improvement in health and education indicators, a result essentially of public policies implemented under the Workers' Party governments. Despite the health sector showing better performance, malignant neoplasms lead the mortality rate throughout the entire period studied, a problem that a few decades ago, in the last century, was outside the spectrum of diseases that most affected the health of the population. Despite the changes mentioned, Quedas do Iguaçu continues to observe precarious living conditions for its population, as well as the externalization of the dynamic axis of its economy, given that it depends on the behavior of the external market, the main destination for products from the wood industry, or the extra-regional market, as is the case of the textile and clothing industry. It is therefore concluded that socioeconomic precariousness in the municipality continues to reinvent itself throughout history, with new facets to old problems. |
