Análise dos riscos geomorfológicos no município de Seara-SC

Abstract

The slopes are part of the geographic space. In regard to river basins, they are responsible for supplying water and sediments to water courses. Any anthropogenic interference in these environments results in several consequences, including geomorphological instability. Seara is a municipality in the west of Santa Catarina and its urban area is located at the bottom of a valley. In recent decades, the urban fabric has expanded towards the steep slopes that surround the city, accentuating the geomorphological risks in that environment. This research aims to understand the geomorphological risks related to the occupation of the slopes in the urban area of Seara. To accomplish reliable results, field visits were carried out, aimying to identify susceptible areas to geomorphological risks. Furthermore, photographic records were taken, showing off aspects of the geomorphological risks and, based on those records, hypsometry and slope maps were developed, which helped in the analysis and systematization of the most susceptible locations. Through these methods, it was observed that the municipality is disturbed by mass movements, mainly due to its geomorphological context and the slopes exploration. Furthermore, the municipality also suffers from floods during periods of the year that presents high rainfall levels
