O empoderamento feminino no município de Itatiba do Sul: perspectivas históricas, sociais e educacionais

Abstract

This research discusses female empowerment in the municipality of Itatiba do Sul-RS, observing historical, social and educational aspects. The research problem is to identify how school and non-formal education spaces are contributing to building the identity of female empowerment in the town of Itatiba do Sul. To this end, the general objective of the study is to analyze, in school and non-formal education spaces, practices that contribute to the identity construction of female empowerment in the town of Itatiba do Sul. The specific objectives are: to highlight a theoretical contribution regarding school and non-formal education spaces, focusing on female empowerment, the history of the conquest of rights and dignity for women; to identify, in school and non-formal education spaces in Itatiba do Sul/RS, practices that contribute to the identity construction of female empowerment; to analyze the practices that contribute to the identity construction of female empowerment in Itatiba do Sul; as well as developing an e-book on the theme of female empowerment in the municipality of Itatiba do Sul as a product for the Professional Master's Degree in Education. For this, the qualitative methodology was used, which was divided into three stages: bibliographic research, state of knowledge and field research. As part of the field research, three administrators of municipal schools, three participants of the Women's Collective and six women (two born in the 1930s, two in the 1960s and two in the 1990s) living in the city of Itatiba do Sul were interviewed. In total, there were twelve interviews. The analysis of the data collected using Bardin's methodology points to the perspective that some women from Itatiba are still tied to the sexist culture, suffering intimidation from men, associating women with the role of mother and blaming them for being objectified by the media. It was also noted that not all of them are familiar with the concepts of female empowerment and feminism, but that the Women's Collective does a great and strong job of raising awareness among its participants. Regarding gender prejudice, it was identified that families often end up perpetuating sexism to their children, which has led to challenges to be faced at school. It was understood that the school tries to fight against this process, but few actions are taken in this sense. It was concluded, therefore, that the municipality of Itatiba do Sul suffers from structural machismo, but that some awareness-raising and fighting actions are underway, with the aim of improving the lives of the citizens and building female empowerment.
