Resume: This work presents a critical, technical and scientific analysis of two operational photovoltaic systems (PV). One of the objectives was to demonstrate that the maintenance of some plants will require a costly retrofitting. Scaleless dimensions and direction, diagrams that do not match the installed equipment and design decisions aimed solely to reduce the cost of electrical cables. A simulation with the projection of losses and energy generation was necessary to define an action plan for preventive or corrective maintenance. Since free online PV system simulators are available, all projects should be accompanied by estimated values of all their state variables, regardless of the amount of energy generated, meaning, rooftop installations of a residence or projects on the order of GWp. That being said, the design engineer must be aware of the limitations of the simulator, such as the inability to accurately simulate strings with different numbers of modules according to the complexity of the PV installation. This study presents real and conclusive date on the misuse of the oversizing ratio and clipping in a 325kWp photovoltaic plant. Losses in the inverter of the order of 6.7% are caused by exceeding the nominal power and reduction of the lifetime of semiconductor devices, this is due to the increase in temperature and the violation of recommendations regarding the voltage difference between MPPTS
