Qualidade da água do Rio Tigre - Erechim (RS): uma análise biogeográfica

Abstract

The water its essential element to life on the planet, present in all environmental processes and, most often, does not have the necessary attention and care. Water quality is an issue of utmost importance and widely discussed, especially in university. The aim of the research was to analyze the quality of water in the Tigre River in the urban area of Erechim - RS, from the biological and physico-chemical parameters. Therefore there was the collection of benthic macroinvertebrates and water samples. The water quality was analyzed by BMWP index and physicochemical parameters, then the results related to the occupation of the surroundings of the river. The water had heavily polluted characteristics or strongly altered systems. The results to a number of factors related to the urban environment is attributed, among them the lack of a collective system of collection and treatment of sewage, domestic and industrial waste dumps without proper treatment and changes in the natural dynamics of the river bed.
