Educação formal no complexo prisional de Chapecó: análise dos impactos e perspectivas a partir dos educadores

Abstract

This qualitative research investigates the contribution of formal education to the resocialization process within the Chapecó Penitentiary Complex. The study employed semistructured interviews with educators and systematic observation of existing educational structures and projects. Data analysis reveals that, despite initiatives such as the "Despertar pela Leitura" Project and formal courses, the effectiveness of education is hindered by precarious conditions, institutional disinterest, and the overlap of educational activities with prison labor. The findings highlight the critical importance of public policies aimed at the social inclusion of marginalized youth, which should be implemented prior to incarceration. The study concludes that formal education holds inherent relevance in the resocialization process but faces significant obstacles, underscoring the urgent need for the implementation of human rights policies both within and outside the carceral system. This research suggests the continuation of investigations into the carceral reality of Chapecó and its associated public policies.
