| Abstract: | Metal and metalloid contamination in high trophic-level marine fish has become an increasing concern at the interface between ecotoxicology and public health. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze, through a bibliometric approach, the evolution of global scientific production on the bioaccumulation of these contaminants in Acanthocybium solandri and Thunnus albacares from 1973 to 2026. Data were retrieved from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, resulting in a final dataset of 112 scientific articles. Analyses were performed using the Bibliometrix package in the R environment, allowing the evaluation of productivity indicators, scientific collaboration, and thematic structure. The results revealed a non-linear growth in scientific production, with a marked increase from the 2010s onward. The literature was concentrated in high-impact environmental journals, particularly Science of the Total Environment and Marine Pollution Bulletin. Scientific production showed a geographically concentrated distribution in developed countries and institutions, although an increasing participation of emerging countries was observed over time. Keyword analysis indicated the predominance of terms such as mercury, bioaccumulation, and heavy metals, reflecting concerns related to seafood consumption and human exposure risks. A pronounced asymmetry in species representation was also identified, with a predominance of studies focused on T. albacares and a marked underrepresentation of A. solandri. |
