Entre ausências e resistências: trajetórias escolares de mulheres negras quilombolas - Invernada dos Negros - SC

Abstract

This monograph analyzes the schooling trajectories of Black Quilombola women from the Invernada dos Negros community in Santa Catarina, Brazil. It adopts an intersectional theoretical-conceptual approach, considering the social categories of race, gender, and class within the post-abolition chronological framework. The methodology employs the study of oral, audiovisual, and documentary sources, emphasizing the observation of accounts collected through interviews. By articulating memories and voices through oral history, the research highlights Black female agency. The study also contrasts these accounts with the educational legislation in force during the interviewees' childhood schooling years, aiming to identify the school model destined for them. Thus, it seeks to understand the challenges and opportunities by considering the impacts of racism, classism, and sexism, articulated intersectionally. The research highlights the historical disparities present in these schooling experiences and their role in maintaining the status quo. Additionally, it explores the perceptions constructed in the remembrance of obstacles and the development of resistance strategies that, whether consciously or unconsciously, accompany their lived experiences in the claim for rights.
