Um estudo sobre a evasão escolar em Chapecó

Abstract

Education in Brazil still faces several obstacles to achieving its quality and effectiveness. This research deals with the problem of school dropout and aims to analyze the perspective of students who have evaded school, considering work, family and school trajectory to evasion. For the analysis of the subject, were used the concepts developed by Bourdieu, Sposito, Foucault, among other authors that problematize this issue. Statistical data on school dropout in Brazil, Santa Catarina and especially in Chapecó are presented and discussed. In order to understand the influence of social factors on school dropout, three young people were interviewed who either evaded or were in the process of dropping out. The proposed analysis seeks to denature the idea that "school failure" or evasion is a problem of the individual and seeks explanations of the social conjuncture to the student that contribute to avoidance. The research is based on the assumption that education and the school are citizenship promoters. This assumption was challenged and analyzed with the theoretical reference, with the statistical data and with the analysis of the interviews.
