Porto Feliz no contexto de colonização do extremo oeste catarinense (1916-1930)

Abstract

This work aims to discuss the formation of the Porto Feliz colony in the extreme west of Santa Catarina, today the present city of Mondai, between the years of 1916-1929, planned to be ethnically and religiously homogeneous. The objective of this research is to understand the colonization process West of Santa Catarina, specifically the context of the formation and organization of the Porto Feliz village. The objective is to discuss some issues involving the use of memory, as a source, in the sense of collaborating with the interpretation of history. The study starts from an analysis of the memorial’s history about the period, dialoguing with the process of formation and transformation of the region. As sources for the research, reports of immigrants and descendants registered in the book “Desbravando Caminhos: histórias contadas pelos pioneioros”, were used, which were important to better understand the process of immigration and German migration to the town of Porto Feliz. The study sought to understand the formations of power that structured the colonization process within the village, based on the actions of the colonizer Chapecó-Peperi, in order to attract significant numbers of new residents of German origin to Porto Feliz. This migration promoted the colonization of an ethnically and religiously homogeneous group, which had the possibility to progress economically, maintaining a remarkable organization and cultural characteristics.
