Futebol de mulheres em Erechim: um estudo sobre (in)visibilidade e os limites da profissionalização

Abstract

Women’s soccer faced many different historical moments since its ascension, prohibition and the return to the fields. The period where women’s soccer was off the sports modalities was reinforced by the medical area that used biological explanations to restrain this practice, thus prohibiting many women from playing for reasons against their will. When returning to the fields and official competitions, there was the need of a coping with the prejudice against women inside soccer. The negative impact brought consequences on the growth and empowerment of the sport. Currently, despite the changes, the inequality is still distinguishable in men and women soccer, thus, making a deconstruction and questioning necessary over these differences. As a way to understand the process of (in)visibility of this sport, this study focus on the comprehension of the reality of women’s soccer on the state of Rio Grande do Sul on the feminine team of Atlântico Soccer Club that participated on the state, regional and national championships. The qualitative methodology is utilized. Five players and the two members of the technical committee from the club were interviewed between 2011 and 2016. Therefore, the main objective is to understand and perceive which are the elements that corroborate (or not) for the insertion of women in the professional soccer as well as the possibilities of recognition and professionalization of this sport.
