O papel da mulher na história do assentamento Indianópolis, no município de Abelardo Luz/SC: suas lutas e opressões

Abstract

Facing towards the theme of women’s role in the context of the Indianópolis Landless Workers’ Movement Settlement, in Abelardo Luz, Santa Catarina, Brazil, this work aims to analyze this settlement’s historical in order to find out what is the role of women in this place, their participation in the struggle for land and their presence or not as leaders in this settlement. The work will be performed through qualitative research, with semi structured interviews with five settled women, who are present there since the beginning of that rural occupation. The content of the interviews will be analyzed according to Bardin. The first step is to raise the question whether there are any barrier or resignation to the inexistence of women in leadership roles in the afore mentioned settlement. Through this work it is expected to clarify the motivation behind the non-insertion of women in positions of direction in the settlement, having into account some questions concerned to sexism, patriarchy, the condition given to women as a fragile sex and how they can empower themselves in order to understand and lead on the settlement or any other place in society. The questions related to women undermining are not new, but exist since the beginning of the Indianópolis Settlement, in Abelardo Luz – where the research will be held. It is intended to have a broad view on the subject, with highlights to the roles women must embrace as leaders and fighters for their rights in their own community, as well as in the society in general, seeking to have the same rights as any other citizen.
