Identidades à mesa: as territorialidades presentes nas práticas alimentares como expressão identitária dos descendentes de poloneses na região geográfica imediata de Erechim/RS

Abstract

The territoriality expresses, at the same time, the practice and perception, on the part of an individual, or, a group of individuals, about the way a territory is organized. Thus, food has been building the identity making Polish cuisine attractive, where the culture prints specific characteristics on the space. In this sense, the objective is to find out how the descendants of Poles express their identities through the culinary territorialities in the municipalities of Áurea, Carlos Gomes and Centenário - RS. For this purpose, theoretical matrices were used to determine key concepts such as: territory, territoriality, culture, identity and cuisine. When relating the aforementioned theme, Geography expresses the occupation and the way that the descendants of Poles faced to adapt to the new territory, preserving or reinventing the memory, habits and customs of their people, and, thus, affirming that the food has Geography. Because, the subjects' relations with the territory take place by the way they appropriate the different portions of space, in specific ways such as the case of food. Therefore, Polish culture has built up a territory and an identity marked by cuisine, where the descendants of Poles reproduce their traditions and worldviews through typical foods and festivals.
