Desafios da enfermagem em unidades de cuidados críticos durante a covid 19: uma revisão de escopo

Abstract

The emergence of COVID 19 as a new viral infection, highly transmissible and with high mortality rates at the end of 2019 mobilized health services at a global level in the search for adaptations to cope with it. Professionals from different areas of knowledge needed to adjust actions according to the new evidence pointed out by science and demands that had not existed until then. In view of this, this study sought, through a scope review, based on the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute, to identify and analyze the challenges, potentialities and difficulties of nursing in critical sectors during the COVID 19 pandemic. The study considered the time frame between 2019 and 2021. Data collection took place in March 2021 in the electronic databases: Scielo, PubMed, Medline and LILACS. Of the 1036 studies found, 16 were included. As an inclusion criterion, the presentation of results related to the challenges, potentialities and difficulties of critical care nursing during the covid pandemic 19. The data showed stress, anxiety and fear as feelings present during the pandemic process. In addition, scarcity and inability to handle PPE in addition to exhaustion and work overload were also present. The emphasis on psychological symptoms overlapping with physical ones echoes the need for attention to nursing professionals with regard to decent working conditions.
