Entre a estrutura e o acontecimento: um olhar discursivo sobre o gênero neutro

Abstract

This study is motivated by the interest in investigating the language as a social object and a phenomenon of ideological disputes, in this scenario, nowadays, the gender-neutral language has been faced as an interesting phenomenon of language that aims to claim rights throughout the language. With this in mind, the aim of this work is to comprehend by gestures of interpretation some discourses about the gender-neutral language to understand what meaning effects are materialized. With this purpose, is constituted an archive with discourses that circulated and still in circulation about the topic, then, from the mobilized material, were delimited discursive sequences, which constitute the analytical corpus, having as a selection parameter the linguistic regularities in order to comprehend how the discursive subject means. For achieving the proposed aim, the work is based on Pêcheux’s theoretical and methodological foundations of Discourse Analysis. It is understood that this study put into circulation different perspectives concerning the language and it is important as far as it contributes to reflections about how the language works nowadays. The result of the analysis revealed the neuter gender is an ideological and political issue in the field of language working not only as structure, but also as an event.
