Title: Prevalência de sintomas de estresse em professores da rede pública de ensino

Resume: Descrever a prevalência de estresse em professores da rede pública municipal e estadual de ensino e verificar sua distribuição conforme variáveis preditoras. Métodos: estudo transversal cujos dados foram coletados em Passo Fundo, RS, entre 2019 e 2020, por meio de questionário on-line. Foi caracterizada a amostra, calculada a prevalência do desfecho e verificada a sua distribuição de acordo com as variáveis independentes (teste do qui-quadrado, admitindo-se 5% de erro tipo I). Resultados: na amostra de 225 professores, 67,6% apresentam algum sintoma de estresse, com diferença estatisticamente significativa em relação a local de residência (p<0,018), violência na escola (p<0,004), obesidade (p<0,026), disfunção cardíaca (p<0,034), depressão (p<0,000), ansiedade (p<0,000) e Síndrome de Burnout
Abstract: to describe the prevalence of stress in teachers from the municipal and state public educatin system and to verify its distrituition according to predictor variables. Methods: corss-sectional study whose data were collected in Passo Fundo, RS, between 2019 and 2020, through na online questionnaire. The sample as characterized, the prevalence of the outcome was calculated and its distrituition was verified according to the independt variables (chi-square test, assuming 5% of type I error). Results: in the sample of 225 teachers, 67,6% had some type os sympto of stress, with a statistically significant difference in relation to place of residence (p<0,0018), violence at school (p<0,004), obesity (p<0,026), cardiac dysfunction(p<0,034), depression (p<0,001), anxiety (p<0,001) and Burnout Syndrome (p<0,003). Conclusions: there was a high prevalence of stress and a distribuition difference according to some variables. Therefore, it is necessery to be concerned with public policies to improve the working conditions of teachers, in addition to the importance of monitoring their mental health.
