História, música e preservação da identidade étnica alemã em composições da Banda Danúbio Azul

Abstract

This essay intends to reflect on the role and meaning of the music of the band Danúbio Azul in the preservation of German culture and ethnic identity. For this, we delve into the History of Military and Civil Bands, in Europe and Brazil; in aspects of the history of music among German migrants and in the strengthening of the Marchinha Alemã genre in southern Brazil; in a brief memory of Banda Danúbio Azul and the analysis of three songs: "Caso Marcado", "Cinderella" and "Pinga na Seringa". The main theoretical contribution used is John Blacking, English musicologist. In addition to preserving the German ethnic identity, the songs end up modifying, directly and indirectly, the way of life and the way of relating to people. The lyrics of the songs have messages, which from time to time, go through updates to keep up with the trend dictated by record labels and music producers.
