Patrimônio histórico e cultural sob ameaça: um retrato dos casos de instalação de lojas Havan no Sul do Brasil (2018-2022)

Abstract

The present work consists of an analysis of the environmental licensing processes of the HAVAN department store chain in the cities of Blumenau, Porto Alegre and Rio Grande, in the southern region of the country. It aims to understand how economic and political power relations interfere with the preservation of Brazilian historical and cultural heritage and how the neoliberal discourse of progress is used to legitimize the destruction of the nation's cultural heritage. The methodology used involves bibliographical, documentary and audiovisual research, using the analyzed processes as a source. The work is based on the analysis and problematization of the aforementioned environmental licensing processes necessary for the development of the works of the undertakings in question and is inserted in the theme that is conventionally called the history of the present time. Over four chapters, it demonstrates how economic and political power, supported by the rhetoric of capital expansion, is used to legitimize the destruction of the heritage of a given culture while protecting and safeguarding the heritage of another.
