Contribuições da educação carcerária para o processo de ressocialização de pessoas em restrição de liberdade

Abstract

This study is linked to the research line about incarceration,education and social inequalities. Its methodological nature was that of a theoretical-bibliographical review, aiming to study the contributions of prison education to the process of resocialization of individuals in custody, addressing social, political, and philosophical issues. For the development of the subject, authors such as Adorno, Bentham, Foucault, Sloterdijk, and Veiga-Neto were used. Through the study, it was possible to conclude that even after decades of the publication of Michel Foucault's "Discipline and Punish," many of the problems and aspects addressed in the book still persist in the current prison system, such as overcrowding, violence, lack of resocialization policies, and disregard for human dignity. It is necessary to rethink punitive models and invest in public policies that aim for a more just and inclusive justice system that respects human dignity and promotes the resocialization of detainees. The construction of more prisons is not an adequate and effective solution to the issue of crime and punishment. Additionally, it is important that society and the state become aware of the impact of the privatization of the prison system and the commodification of punishment, defending the principles of justice and respect for human rights.
