Leitura "en sincro": o funcionamento metafórico na crítica de Josefina Ludmer

Abstract

This study presents a way of reading the metaphor "en synchro" in the discursivity of Aquí América latina: Una especulación, by Josefina Ludmer (2010a). For this purpose, we understand the metaphor as constituted by a sliding of meaning between one discursive formation and another, starting with Michel Pêucheux’s point of view, a discourse analyst, but we also mobilize other post-structuralist authors’ thoughts for our understanding of the metaphor. We understand that the metaphor "en synchro" proposes a way to read the text like Ludmer’s criticism, but it also makes us think about other critical, theoretical and fictional texts. When read "en synchro", these texts are displayed in a relationship of simultaneity, with no distinction of chronological order, and thus, without hierarchies. On the other hand, "en synchro" may also function as the way a reader understands it, like the image of Ludmer’s itself, who reads various discourses at the same time, and not only the literary ones, and "speculates" on them, without defining herself as a restricted reader to a specific field, like the literary critic. Based on that, our focus is to trace the historicity of the meanings constituted in this metaphor, trying to understand what it is to read "en sincro." In this regard, we reconstructed the "conditions of appearance" of this metaphor, in its relation with the discursive memory as the thing that determines the sliding of meaning, indicating the relationship with what was "already said" and the socio-historical aspects. In doing so, we seek to understand the metaphorical slides, namely other images in Ludmer’s text that can be read as speculation modes of this metaphor, particularly in reading "en synchro." We also propose the metaphor as a way of reading the speculation modes of the critic in Josefina Ludmer’s text.
