Condições de vida da juventude em assentamentos de reforma agrária: um estudo de casos nos estados do Paraná e Ceará

Abstract

The present study has the general objective of proposing and analyzing indicators that characterize the living conditions of rural youth living in agrarian reform settlements in the states of Paraná and Ceará, observing economic, environmental, cultural, political and social aspects of Sustainable Rural Development (DRS). For this, 40 young people who live in the Settlements 8 de Junho/PR and Maceió/CE, aged between 18 and 29 years old and equally distributed according to gender, were selected, with whom interviews were conducted and two structured instruments were applied. The work systematized 39 indicators related to the living conditions of young people, distributed in the dimensions of the DRS and in instances related to the living conditions of young settlers. In the analysis of the indicators, results were observed that indicate the potential of both settlements in relation to the themes of work and income, education, culture, internet access, technological equipment, sports, leisure and health. Differences were also found in terms of limitations and potentialities between the analyzed settlements, such as aspects of pluriactivity, level of family and individual income, employment, use of pesticides on the property, diversification of the family unit, access to basic sanitation, deforestation on the property, participation in agroecosystem management decisions, access to the internet and participation in groups or cultural activities. Considering the perception of the young people interviewed, similar results were identified regarding satisfaction with the dimensions of the DRS between the two analyzed plots, pointing out that, despite being located in different regions and federation units, satisfaction with living conditions is similar.
