Tensões nas instituições escolares: disciplina e liberdade, um diálogo entre Freire e Foucault

Abstract

This research proposes a reflection about the subject of tensions between discipline and liberty in the scholar environment, analyzing questions of authority and authoritarianism, as well as coercive and libertarian disciplines. The discipline has a main standing in the scholar realm, because it is historically conditioned to the scholar context, its structure is inherent in the power practices sustained by means of the body and the way it behaves disciplines are still segmented as a north for the search of liberty. Considering the tensions, contradictories, but existent in the scholar environment, a dialogue with Freire and Foucault about what a discipline is, focusing on how it intervenes in a space of liberty and freedom, through dialogue, contrapose the specificities of conceptual analysis. The methodology used in this research is bibliographical, using bibliographical appreciations in a qualitative and hermeneutical approach, utilizing as a source books and articles. As such, one concludes that the disciplines appear to permeate the educational environment and the tensions provoked between becoming a discipline and being freed from it conduce to the praxis of educational transformation and the resistance against the mechanical and alienating power.
