A representação da mulher em letras musicais brasileiras

Abstract

The goal of this work is to analyze some musical lyrics with predominantly “Male chauvinism”, trying to understand the role of the female figure represented in this context. This research approached some concepts still considered "taboos" that, although rooted in our culture, are still not discussed clearly and openly, as feminism, “male chauvinism” and patriarchy. This work also wants to answer the question of how the representation of women in Brazilian musical lyrics is made, through the analysis of some songs and lyrics. Throughout this work, we can observe that women are represented repeatedly by “male chauvinism” and patriarchal stereotypes, there are two preexisting social roles in which women and men must fit in, and the woman is a good wife, mother and mistress of a faithful house, while the man should be the head of the family, provider and protector of the home.
