Logotipos escolares: uma análise das representações visuais de educação infantil

Abstract

The present research aims to identify and analyse the imagery and textual elements which composes the logos of private early childhood educational centers of the five biggest cities in the State of Santa Catarina and reflect about the social representation that those images and words possibly propagate about childhood and its educacional phase. The study finds theoretical and methodological support in the social representations theory idealized by Serge Moscovici (1978). Ninety-three early childhood educational centers were identified through the INEP website and made up the set of schools that were part of the research. Their logos were identified through their social networks and cataloged for analysis. This is an exploratory study of a qualitative nature that carried out a content analysis of the images and words contained in the logos according to the proposal of Bardin (1977). The textual elements were cataloged and classified into thematic categories and proceeded by the calculation of theirs frequencies. The analysis of the images was also supported by the studies of Moliner (1996), De Rosa and Farr (2001), Bauer and Gaskell (2008) and Silva, Cohen & Gaymard (2020). The results indicate that social representations are possibly anchored in traditional knowledge about childhood and early childhood education. It was also observed the presence of some more current and contextualized elements that may indicate an incipient process of resignification of these representations. The study allows reflections on the role of images and words in the production, expression and propagation of social representations of early childhood education.
