Abstract

Speaking of authority in our world is a taboo, due all the barbarism resulted from the misuse of the term in the mid-twentieth century. However, the object of study of this work is the authority present in the school, which in no way is similar to the authority present in the political world (already disappeared from the world), because of the autopoietic characteristic of the school. The objective of this work is to understand the possibilities of History teacher’s authority and its importance for the formation of the student and the world’s constitution. First, the teacher, for being the representative figure of adults in the school, therefore, responsible for the world. Second, the History teacher, as it is the discipline Where the encounter with the world takes place in a more intense and tense way. Having such questions clarified, the other reflection will also be undertaken on which history belongs to the History class, this discussion has as theoretical basis the authors Hannah Arendt, Gert Biesta and Theodor Adorno and is divided into three chapters. The first chapter focuses on the role of the school in the world and Society, and then begins the discussions of the teacher’s role as an authority in the second chapter, where there is a discussion of the examples of the misrepresentation of the authority and in the third, understanding what in fact is the authority of the History teacher in the History class. Concluding that the presence of the teacher’s authority is essential for an education that guarantees the possibility of renewing the world.
