Trabalho e educação: o futuro na visão de jovens trabalhadores aprendizes no oeste catarinense

Abstract

The complex task of perceiving future perspectives from the perspective of young workers can become more accessible and uncomplicated when we investigate based on the speeches of young apprentices, in a training path that points to a future of possibilities. This is the scenario in which this research takes place. To uncover this, we took as our object of study the Young Apprentice Program developed by the Santa Catarina Business-School Integration Center (CIEE-SC). The Young Apprentice Program is a public policy responsible for ensuring the insertion of young people into the job market. Law 10,097/2000, also known as the “Apprenticeship Law”, allows the hiring of young apprentices from the age of 14. Guided by the objectives, the research will discuss the following issue: in a scenario where young people's future perspectives are intrinsically associated with work, to what extent a learning program, in this case the CIEE-SC Young Apprentice Program, has helped in decisions educational and professional scope of the participating youth? Taking this Program as a reference, the study aims to understand how the Young Apprentice Program developed at CIEE-SC contributes to the formative trajectory in basic and higher education and the professional training of young apprentice workers. More specifically, the study aims to: (i) investigate the relationship between work and education and analyze the educational dimension of work; (ii) analyze legislation and public policies that aim to promote the insertion of young apprentices in employing institutions; (iii) know the profile of young people participating in the research; and (iv) reflect on the future from the perspective of young CIEE apprentice workers in the West region of Santa Catarina. With regard to methodological procedures, the research is descriptive, field study and mixed approach, with qualitative and quantitative data collection. As a data collection instrument, initially, the questionnaire was applied online, using Google Form, with objective questions, sent to participants by email. In a second moment, the interview was carried out, in a semi-structured format, carried out individually with those involved, in person or online. Data interpretation was based on the Content Analysis methodology, developed by Laurence Bardin. Finally, it is important to highlight that, despite the complexity of the topic and the constant reflection around it, the research can confirm that work is essential in the lives of the young participants, as well as for their families, especially due to the increase in income family, which may justify the participants' early start to work, the majority of which took place up to 14 years of age. This finding came from the speeches of young apprentice workers, taking the western region of Santa Catarina as a focus, therefore, it is necessary to deepen the other questions proposed in this study and expand the research.
