Matemática financeira com o auxílio de planilhas eletrônicas: uma proposta metodológica

Abstract

Society today is technologically well advanced and continues to evolve constantly. On the other hand, it seems that the school is stagnating in the patterns of past decades, failing to keep up with technological advances, in many cases, with the whiteboard, the pen and the textbook as practically the only materials used. Another factor that justifies the school's stagnation is the teaching methodology adopted, which little encourages students' logical reasoning and creativity. Based on the above, this research sought to answer the following problem: is the use of electronic spreadsheets combined with learning by discovery a viable proposal for the teaching of Financial Mathematics? The research took place from an application of a didactic sequence in a third year class of Innovative High School in a public school in the extreme west of Santa Catarina. The research also sought to understand the involvement of students in the use of spreadsheets for the teaching and learning of Financial Mathematics. The results obtained were very positive, as the students had a great involvement in the development of the activities of the didactic sequence, showing themselves motivated and trying to overcome difficulties encountered.
