Abstract

This course conclusion work has as its central objective the Heuristic Play in Early Childhood Education. The main aspect of this study was to investigate the role of Heuristic Play, thought as a pedagogical proposal, for the learning and development of babies and very young children in a municipal nursery located in Estação, a city in the north of Rio Grande do Sul. The work presents a qualitative methodological approach and it was developed from a documental analysis of the political-pedagogical project and school regiment of the institution. As a complementary strategy to the research, a questionnaire was applied to the institution's teachers, in order to investigate what meanings are attributed to the practice with heuristic games, treasure baskets and experimentation trays. The constructed data were analyzed from the understanding of learning and human development in the theoretical approach of Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky. It is also based on Elinor Goldschmied, for being the propeller of the Heuristic Play approach. In addition to expanding conceptions of learning and development in Early Childhood Education, the study promotes a reflection on teaching in nursery and points out that Heuristic Play may be an opportunity for babies and very young children to investigate, discover and learn about themselves and the others, in the cultural and social environment in which they are inserted.
